Since the 1970’s, I have lusted after the Porsche 914, and feel that this “budget” Porsche, with the mid-engine layout and 50-50 weight ratio, to be my favorite car. In typical tradition, I sought out a 1973, as this was the year I was born. This car has been driven VERY slowly in parades, very fast on both the street and tracks, and is probably the car I will still own 50 years from now. Even though it is lacking horsepower (138 whp), it makes up for it with being a very light machine; very go-cart-ish, this car has always handled amazingly, irrespective of how and where it is driven. It is even more such a hoot with Hoosier slicks.
Shortly after getting this beauty, I sought out a set of the original 2.0 Porsche Fuchs, and was able to find 4 with date code of 11/1972, which matched the car’s.
Over the winter of 2017-2018, I have intentions of dropping the 2.0L (bored/stroked to 2.4L) 4 cylinder motor for a rebuild, or possibly an upgrade to a 2.7L 6 cylinder from a Porsche 1977 911S.
