As a matter of fact, I have been dealing with a pain index of 12 out of 10. Ten days ago I underwent ankle surgery for a broke ankle, a tri-ligament tear on the outside of my right ankle, a longitudinal tear of my Achilles tendon, tears of the tendons on the inside of my ankle, bone spurs and arthritis, as well as a complete lack of cartilage between my legs\/ankle bones. The surgery was on Monday, February 24, 2025, and for about 5 days, I experienced the worst pain I have ever felt, despite the pain medicine. I was in tears, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t get comfortable, and could do very little but just struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’m not sure what magical happened, but overnight on Saturday, something happened, and suddenly, the pain went from 12 out of 10 down to about 5 out of 10 while medicated, and by Sunday, things were down to about 2 out of 10 medicated. Yesterday, they took off the cast, and I found an ankle full of staples, and everything was still black and blue and swollen, but the doctor was pleased with the healing. This makes me feel a bit better, and as soon as Amazon delivers the cast cover I ordered later today, I will finally be able to shower, and if you know me, I hate to miss my daily (or sometimes twice daily) showers – I think I’ll start feeling more like a real person again, and may want to get out of the house again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
When dealing with pain, it is completely legal to have a pain index greater than 1.
